Hello, friends.
To all you travelers and sojourners and nomads,
To all you language learners and culture learners,
To all you passport holders and visa owners and cross-cultural workers,
To all you learning to love where you are while always missing somwhere else,
To all you making a life overseas and making a home in Christ,
You belong here.
About Liturgies for a Life Abroad
Liturgies for a Life Abroad was created for those who find themselves living a life outside of their passport country and making a home in Christ. The liturgies and words shared in this space and on our social media platforms are meant to draw our wandering hearts back to Jesus and set our wandering feet on a path to living well in the places He leads us.
Liturgy, in the sense we use the word in this space, is the routines and rituals that shape our lives and invite the holy into the ordinary, bringing us back to our Maker. In the midst of our madness like packing, cultural mistakes, saying goodbye, writing newsletters, language learning, and more, we can cultivate communion with Christ and create moments of worship. Liturgies have the ability to anchor us to truth in a life that can often feel upended with all the transitions we experience. On the days when we are overwhelmed by grief or homesickness or culture fatigue, the words of the liturgies remind us of truth in moments when we are struggling to remember it.
Wherever you are in your journey, or even if you're someone who loves and prays for a sojourner, this space is for you.
