Life In Transition- The Only Thing That Doesn't Change is That Things Are Always Changing

I just wish things could stay the same for a while.
After ten years living abroad, I have said goodbye to more dear friends and teammates than I can count. Here we are again, in another season of transition, with more change around the corner.
The weight of the constant transition can really take a toll.
I knew when we moved abroad I was saying yes to an unpredictable life. I had no idea, though, how much the unpredictability would impact my soul. Every transition, every goodbye is a reminder that
the only thing about life abroad that doesn't change is that things are always changing.
So how do we journey on when our hearts are heavy from the grief and loss? How do we keep from losing our peace in the process of constant transition and change? How can we stay anchored when we're being tossed by the waves of uncertainty?
We invite Jesus to meet us there.
"In this transition
draw me closer to You, dear Lord,
for my greatest desire is not
to be anchored to
consistent circumstances,
but rather, to be anchored to a
consistent God.
Let me sink deep into the safety of Your love,
holding to You
as You hold to me,
O merciful, unchanging Savior,
faithful in every season."
-from "A Liturgy for Times of Transition"
In my most recent book, Crafting Liturgies for Life Abroad, you will find a gentle invitation for the soul that has been wearied by transition and change to meet with Jesus in the unique challenges of being a sojourner. I will walk you through six easy steps to not only write a prayer like the one above, but to emotionally and intellectually process the unique moments of life abroad with Jesus as your friend and guide. I've also included plenty of my own liturgies like the one above for you to pray and be inspired by as you write. If you've enjoyed what I've written at Liturgies for a Life Abroad, I feel confident you'll be blessed by this book.
Don't let the transition and change wreak havoc on your soul. Let it be a catalyst for deeper communion with Christ as you invite Him into your sojourning story. Order your digital or paperback copy on Amazon HERE.
For healing and wholeness,
Heather
